Das All Girl Quartett aus Kopenhagen spielt ein explosives Gemisch aus Stoner- und Sixties-Surf-Rock, Twist und Psychedelic. Fette, jaulende Sixties-Gitarren treffen auf einen rumpelnden Beat und die schmutzige Rockröhre von Lead-Sängerin Lene. Tolle Melodien, frickelige Gitarrensoli, einige mehrstimmige „Yeah's" und „Nanana's" erzeugen den typischen Sound, der das Publikum mitreißt und mit dem Cherry Overdrive souverän auch schon mal einschlägige Veteraninnen der Riot Grrrl-Szene an die Wand spielt. Seit 2005 touren Cherry Overdrive unablässig durch Deutschland, Dänemark, Schweden, Österreich und Spanien. 2006 erschien das Debütalbum der Band (Heptown Records / Cargo Records) gefolgt von mehreren EPs, Singles und Samplerbeiträgen. Live stand Cherry Overdrive bereits mit Bands wie den Gore Gore Girls, Colour Haze, On Trial u.v.a. auf der Bühne. Im Frühjahr 2010 wird das zweite Album der Band erscheinen.

Die Band hat sich ganz dem Sechziger-Jahre-Garage-Beat verschrieben, was sich auch in ihrem Bühnen-Outfit wiederspiegelt. Doch das reicht den Damen nicht, und so finden sich auch Punk, Surf, Twist, Stoner, Easy Listening und Science Fiction-Einflüsse in der Musik wieder. Verquirlt ist der Sound eine stimmige Mischung!

Zuweilen wirken die 4 Damen wie die kleinen Schwestern der International Noise Conspircy. Melodiöser Garagen-Rock trifft auf Riot-Girl Attitüde und Stoner-Rock Gitarren. Und das ist tatsächlich noch besser, als es sich anhört.
