10.01.2009 - Club Separee, Kastanie 85, Berlin, Germany
Attendance: 60-70
Time: 70 min
Set: Porno -> Old tattoo, Gun or run, Upside down, Mindmachine, Psychosis, You can only guess, Divine advice, I want to, Too much, All because of you, My flash on you, Dope idiots, Last song about you, Save me save you, Cracker, Surrender
Encore: No mercy on ravers, Porno, Mr. Time, Mind garage -> Invisible people
Notes: The first show of the year! Club Separee is a very small and underground but also very long running Berlin 60s Party organised by DJ Miss Danger and DJ Stroko. This edition of Club Separee was orginally scheduled to take place at Mauersegler, a small club and bar in Mauerpark. However, the day of the show the venue experiences a broken water-pipe forcing the organisers to move the party to Kastanie 85, just 5 minutes walk from Mauersegler, at the very last minute. Kastanie 85 is a secret underground venue. It is located in the basement of Café Morgenrot on Kastanienalle (an ex- or semi-squat). A narrow staircase leads to a very small and cosy room that features a bar which sells cheap beers. From here one enters the concert room, a square 5x5 metre room with a rather high ceiling, a mini gallery as well as a sufficient stage. The maximum capacity accounts for maybe around 70 persons. A perfect venue, if a bit on the blurry side regarding the sound. Brotherhod plays around midnight to a full house, though far from being packed. The crowd is a decent mix of 60s types, alternative and young people as well as some punks who regularly come here. Very few regular Brotherhood fans show up. The band plays an engaged show with only very few glitches here and there, even debuting a brand-new uptempo Kiryk number called "I want to". After a cool take on the new song "Upside down" early on in the set Kiryk asks the crowd how they have been and "Wer von euch hat sich schon auf die Fresse gepackt, so richtig, diesen Winter?" referring to the ice-cold temperatures that have been ruling Germany for the previous two weeks. As the band has studio sessions scheduled for the following week Kiryk introduces Psychosis: "Der nächste Song ist von unserer neuesten Platte, die wir erst übermorgen aufnehmen werden." "Divine advice" and "All because of you" are also being introduced as songs off of the next album. It takes a while until the people loosen up ("Too much" opens the doors to a moving dancefloor) but towards the end the dancing and partying increases and during an unusual long and psychedelic encore the people ultimately let themselves go (quite similiar to RAW Tempel 13.06.2008). Highlights of the show include tight versions of "You can only guess", "All because of you", a sweet reading of "Save me save you" wich makes the people swing, a wild "Cracker" as well as a slightly jammed out and really swirling 'n' burning "Mindgarage" that weirdly segues into an insanely fast-paced "Invisible people" as definite encore-highlight.

17.01.2009 - Club Havanna, Potsdam, Germany
Attendance: 50-70
Soundcheck: Upside down (instr.), Divine advice (part.), Gun or run (part.)
Time: 80 min
Set: Porno -> Old tattoo, Gun or run, My flash on you, Mindmachine, Psychosis, You can only guess, Divine advice, Cracker, Dope idiots, Upside down, Save me save you, All because of you, Too much, Mr. Time, Last song about you, Mimi's tune, Surrender
Encore 1: Invisible people, I want to
Encore 2: No mercy on ravers -> Jam
Notes: Brotherhood returns to Potsdam, where they first played almost two years ago and where they haven't had the best of luck yet regarding attendance and cool shows. Tonight is different as the band plays a semi-private party. The party is well attended and later really crowded and about 50 to 80 people gather in the small space where Brotherhood have set up their equipment. Club Havanna is not a club but a typical cocktail bar (funnily enough just one building next to Club Charlotte where the previous Potsdam show took place). The crowd is fairly straight for the most part but willing to party. The sound is really sub-standard, during the first songs the guitar is almost inaudible and the bass overrules everything else. It's a good show nevertheless with a handful of fans and friends dancing in the very first rows and many people also enjoying in the back. Curiously, the crowd really digs the "Upside down" much more than the previous numbers which takes the dancing to the next level, a cool effect that gives this new number a lot of punch - a highlight of the show. The main set is being finished pretty abruptly but the crowd calls for more and the band comes back surprised and does two more tunes including the new one "I want to". Now the cheering for a second encore is even louder and Brotherhood returns once again and gives us "No mercy". The tune is given the special treatment tonight: They perform the same version they did at Burg Herzberg with an added jam after the regular closing guitar solo. Lars and Jan get each a solo and then the band quickly concludes the song. Way cool. Finally a good Potsdam night!

24.01.2009 - Bassy Cowboy Club, Berlin, Germany
Attendance: ~170-200
Time: 80 min
Set: Porno -> Old tattoo, Upside down, Gun or run, Mr. Time, All because of you, Divine advice, You can only guess, Psychosis, Mindmachine, Dope idiots, My flash on you, Too much, A thing called love, Last song about you, Save me save you, Cracker, I want to, Camera, Mindgarage, Surrender
Encore: No mercy on ravers, Suck it, Invisible people
Notes: Chris replaces Jan. The band plays Bassy for the fifth time already, 2 years after their first performance at this cool venue. Without any advertisement a decent crowd shows up. Bassy's dancefloor is filled well, though the joint is not packed. Kicked off by the classic "Porno/Old tattoo" combo the set is fueled by the newest and newer songs. Kiryk mentions the new album several times. This is really a fun show with the band delivering a charged and playful performance, the interaction with Chris is fresh and jaunty. The crowd dances. Highlights include fairly rare versions of "A thing called love" (featuring a little intro-jam) and "Suck it" as well as tight renditions of "Upside down", "All because of you", "Divine advice", "Too much", "Cracker", "Camera" and "Invisible people". On the setlist but not played: "Mimi's tune"

27.02.2009 - Barbobu Party, Grüner Salon, Volksbühne, Berlin, Germany
With: Barbobu Band, Ron Spielman Acoustic Blues Band
Attendance: 30
Time: 40 min
Set: Old tattoo, Gun or run, Upside down, Too much, Dope idiots, Divine advice, All because of you, Last song about you, Save me save you, Mr. Time, Cracker
Notes: With Chris. Brotherhood is the special guest again at the monthly Barbobu Party organised by Lars' and Chris' band Barbobu Band, a soul-cover band. Since the first time Brotherhood has played this event back in 2007 the Barbobu Party just recently has found a new home at Grüner Salon at Volksbühne (which is the sister-venue of Roter Salon where the first Record Release as well as the Seeds-show were held). The event is rather badly attended. The Barbobu band throws a good party by delivering a tight and joyful set but many guests leave after the band has wrapped up their set. Afterwards it takes another hour until Brotherhood performs, At this point - it is 3 am now - only 30 lost souls including the regular companions Mel, Thorsten, Sergi and Äxl are left to dance, drink and party. Without a soundcheck Brotherhood plays a confused, sloppy and unfirm set. Kiryk's guitar blacks out for one verse and one chorus already in "Old tattoo". The band clearly gains momentum though during the course of the short set resulting in fairly good versions of "Divine advice", "Save me save you" and "Mr. Time". They've done it way better before though. During a confused intro to "Cracker" Kiryk and Erik briefly tease the blues classic "Shakin' all over". On the setlist as encore but not played: "Psychosis", "My flash on you", "Surrender", "Invisible people".

28.02.2009 - Cortina Bob, Berlin, Germany
Supporting: The Pirate Love
Attendance: 50-80
Soundcheck: Mr. Time, Gun or run, Upside down (all partial)
Time: 40 min
Set: Old tattoo, My flash on you, Gun or run, Upside down, Psychosis, Divince advice, Cracker, Dope idiots, All because of you, Mr. Time, Surrender, Invisible people
Notes: With Chris. Brotherhood supports Pirate Love, a Garage Punk band from Oslo. Cortina Bob is a cool new punk joint on Kreuzberg's Wiener Straße. Shaped almost exactly like one of the classic Kreuzberg-clubs Wild At Heart a few metres up the street the vibe is really old-school early 90s here. A typical Punk-crowd shows up: tough and worn-out looking guys and chicks in leather jackets. Tonight the brothers play a good and firm set to a fairly good response by the audience.

21.03.2009 - Kantine 12, Nürnberg, Germany
With: The Attention, The Magic Twangers
Set: unknown
Notes: The 150th Brotherhood concert! A new psychedelic party in Nürnberg run by Ader (Freshlight!) and Sabin. It's the band's first proper show in Nürnberg (not counting the obscure gig in Schnaittach 2007). A decent number of people shows up and dances. Psychedelic lights and visuals by Freshlight enhance this show.

19.06.2009 - Record Release @ Ballhaus Ost, Berlin, Germany

Supported by: Pedro Mountains Mummy
Attendance: ca. 200
Time: 80 min
Set: Cracker Intro -> Cracker, Mr. Time, Gun or run, All because of you, Mind machine, Divine advice, Too much, Save me save you, Last song, Psychosis, Invisible people, Old tattoo, My flash on you, Dope idiots, Upside down, I want to, Mind garage
Encore 1: Mimi's tune, Surrender
Encore 2: Camera, No mercy on ravers
Notes: Record Release "Live Ammunition", the live record taped live at Burg Herzberg Festival the previous year. The venue is an old theater ballroom in Prenzlauer Berg. The ballroom is pretty big with a capacity of 500-600 people so the crowd, wile decent, feels rather sparse. Apart from one rehearsal one day before the show the band hasn't played together since the Holland shows at the end of March. Despite that Brotherhood plays a solid set highlighted by the old classic "Old tattoo" as well as a hot and seemingly never-ending "Mind garage". "No mercy" gets the Herzberg-treatment again with a slightly revised and shortened jam at the end.

21.06.2009 - Fete de la Musique @ Bassy Cowboy Club, Berlin, Germany
Also playing: Infamis, A Pony Named Olga and others
Attendance: 200
Time: 45 min
Set: Old tattoo, My flash on you, Gun or run, Upside down, Too much, Divine advice, Mind machine, Psychosis, Invisible people, Intro -> Cracker, Dope idiots, Mr. Time, All because of you
Notes: Wahnsinn! The band plays a fantastic show propelled to their most explosive by an enthusiastic crowd. The energy level of band and crowd which unfolds during the course of this short show is only being rivaled by VERY FEW previous hometown concerts and most certainly ranks among heavy-weights like 15.06.2007, 13.07.2007, 27.10.2007, 14.12.2007 and 09.02.2008. This is another show at the annual Fete de la Musique where the band has performed in 2006 and 2007 too. This year they play two shows at the free music festival, which is the most successfull and best attended edition so far thanks to great wheather conditions all through the day up to 9 pm when a thunderstorm would go down and scatter the huge open air crowds all over Berlin's clubs. This first show of the day is already Brotherhood's sixth show at the Bassy Club. Showtime half past 10 pm and the club is packed with a party crowd thanks to the rain outside. The people soon pick up the band's energetic vibe, who plays much better than two days ago at the Record Release. During "Divine advice" a hot chick comes up on the stage and delivers a sexy dance during the next numbers, successfully flirting with the audience. The brothers relentlessly rock through their songs with power and joy. The set finds finds an early climax with "Invisible people" which is taken higher and higher and eventually to the max by fierce Kiryk-soloing. From now on the people scream, dance and interact with the band harder and louder during each subsequent song resulting in definit renditions of "Cracker", "Dope idiots", "Mr. Time" and "All because of you". An unbelievably powerful and fantastic gig by which future concerts (and crowds!) will have to be measured by! "Surrender" was on the setlist as encore but was not played.

21.06.2009 - Fete de la Nuit @ Dustownsounds, Schlagwerk, Berlin, Germany
Also playing: Neume, Deaf Avenger, Oozing Goo
Attendance: 40-70
Time: 55 min
Set: Porno -> Old tattoo, My flash on you, Gun or run, Upside down, Too much, Divine advice, Mind machine, Intro -> Psychosis, Invisible people, Jam -> Cracker, Dope idiots, Mr. Time, All because of you
Encore: No mercy on ravers, Surrender
Notes: The second gig of the day takes place at the Fete de la Nuit edition of Dustownsounds, a new Stoner Rock concert series. Brotherhood shares the bill with a Stoner Rock band, a Noise Rock duo as well as the Massive Progressive quartet Oozing Goo (who also supported Brotherhood in Leipzig 20.03.2009). The venue is a 300 capacity professional club deep in the basement of the Königsstadt right across the street from Bassy, where the Roadrunner's Paradise Club (compare 26.09.2006 and 25.05.2007) is also located. Originally scheduled to play at one o'clock in the night Brotherhood finally take the stage at 2:30. A small crowd of dancers is left and while the band fails to match the energy level of the previous gig they play an enagaged and entertaining show. They make a few minor mistakes here and there, probably due to the late hour. Kiryk plays a lenghty intro to "Psychosis" (though different from the 2006/2007-era intros). Before "Cracker" Lars is impatient to start so he starts the beat and one by one the brothers join him and create a little jam that leads to "Cracker". After the solo during the "You know the man he wants some patience"-part Kiryk trys to stop the band from making any sounds and he prolongs the pause dramatically. Erik refuses to let the silence previal for more than a few seconds though and he injects weird noises. Then they launch back into the song and the dancefloor moshes heavily. The people love it and dance through the night and then demand loudly an encore. A good show ending at 3:30 in the morning when the shortest night of the year is about to fade into dawn...

26.06.2009 - Epplehaus, Tübingen, Germany

With: Los Franco Neros
Attendance: 150
Set: Unknown
Notes: Brotherhood returns to Tübingen and plays the by now classic line up again: Just as on 12.03.2008 and 16.05.2009 they play together with Tübingen's very own Garage kings Los Franco Neros. Los Francos haven't played in a while and now feature a girl on vocals. The place is packed as it gets and the show is a success.

27.06.2009 - Strassenfest, Backnang, Germany
Also playing: Mikrowelle, The Phantomics
Attendance: 500-600
Set: Unknown
Notes: The tiny Sabian town Backnang celebrates a four day long Stadtfest. The local youth centre where Brotherhood have played before on 17.05.2009 also has a stage which makes for a freak-island inmidts the traditional Blaskapellen-Volksfest-hell. Brotherhood is very welcome on this stage and several hundred kids and punks party, mosh and pogo to the band's performance despite some pouring rain during the show. A good party fueled by booze 'n' dope...
02.07.2009 - Insight51 Reception @ Awear, Berlin, Germany
Attendance: ca. 100
Time: 60 min
First Set: Porno -> Old tattoo, My flash on you, Gun or run, Porno -> Mind machine, Camera, Mr. Time, Dope idiots, Cracker
Second Set: Save me save you, Last song, Divine advice, Upside down, Invisible people, Psychosis, Mind garage, A thing called love, Too much
Notes: It's fashion time in Berlin: Three different fashion fairs take place at the same in Berlin, the most important one being Bread & Butter which is Europe's biggest fashion fair. A small French street wear label called Insight 51 introduces its spring 2010 colletion with a reception at a small fashion store on Kastanienallee (Prenzlauer Berg). The new collection has a retro charme that's why the marketing manager books Brotherhood to perform at the reception on short notice. VIPs, custumors and media people are being shuttled with an old open-roof English bus from the Bread & Butter fair at Tempehof Airport to the small store. A small coffee-shop next to the fashion store serves free Tapas and drinks. The band performs outside, right on the street. It's a hot and humid day, the day's highest temperature reaches 30°C. The two sets are being played between two short but heavy rain showers which is perfect timing, the sets are played between 8 and 9:40 pm. During the first set the band is not really warm yet and as early as "Gun or run" Kiryk breaks a string and the band injects a brief "Porno". "Camera" somehow feels a bit out-dated among the new songs. They close the first 20 minute set with "Cracker", a version that features some slightly different guitar work. On the setlist for the first set but not played: "Psychosis" (moved to the second set) and "All because of you". As the reception progresses the people loosen up and and so does the band: After a 20 minute intermission they are finally warm and kicking during the second set. "Save me save you" is a very sweet opener making the people dance. "Upside down" marks the moment when Brotherhood starts to peak and the following psych songs are all highlights. "A thing called love" hasn't been played to our knowledge since Bassy 24.01.2009. A cool party ensues during the course of the second set. People walking by stop and watch the band, residents join the small crowd, people start to dance and to throw half a dozen of air-balls through the air. During "Too much" the cops finally arrive (the event wasn't declared with the municipality) so the band has to stop by now. On the second set setlist but not played: "You can only guess" and "Surrender". A nice and pretty event to attend, one of those interesting irregular shows you see small bands play.

04.07.2009 - Bornstock, Alte Funkmessstation, Beelitz, Germany
Attendance: ca. 100
Set: Unknown
Notes: A small and effectively privat festival with only one band in the line up: Brotherhood. Attendants are mostly over 30 years and there are also many kids. Good vibes, dancing crowd. The second to last concert with Lars as official drummer...

23.07.2009 - Wild At Heart, Berlin, Germany
Supporting: The Movements
Attendance: 40-50
Soundcheck: Gun or run, All because of you, Divine advice (all partial)
Time: 40 min
Set: Porno -> Old tattoo, My flash on you, Gun or run, Mind machine, All because of you, Dope idiots, Mr. Time, Divine advice, Cracker, Psychosis, Upside down, Invisible people
Encore: Surrender
Notes: This night's double bill has been long overdue: Gothenburg's sympathetic garage psych space rockers The Movements hit off a small summer tour in Germany and on this first night of the tour our boys play the support. Wild At Heart is a rock 'n' roll, punk and rockabilly joint on Wiener Str. in Kreuzberg - it has been there like forever and finally Botherhood gets to play this classic venue. The audience is younger and hipper than the crowd at the other gig on Wiener Str. this year (Cortina Bob 28.02.2009). However, they don't dance either - the applause is good and there are smiles everywhere but they just don't dance - instead they hold on to huge half liter beer mugs. Brotherhood plays a rather average gig without any real low or high points. The only deviation from pevious performances would be a weird organ-guitar-conversation that was previously found in most versions of the late (and hugely missed!) "The drifter" - today it intros "Cracker" for some funny twenty seconds.

07.08.2009 - Mew Rock Festival, Meyhen, Germany
Also playing: Pub'N'Steel, Toska & the Smood Bros., Ornah Mental
Set: Porno, Old tatto, My flash on you, Gun or run, Mindmachine, Mr. Time, Divine advice, All because of you, Camera, Psychosis, Cracker, Dope idiots, Too much, Last song, Upside down, Surrender
Encore: Mind garage, Invisible people
Notes: Vogel on bass because Jan is on vacation. This is the second time Jan has to be replaced, compare the first occasion in 2008. Small festival crowd, Brotherhood is the only dance act, everything else is just Staubsaugermusik. This is the last show with Lars as official drummer, after 131 shows with him since Bassy 13.01.2007.

29.08.2009 - Grüner Jäger, Hamburg, Germany

Notes: First show with new official drummer Florian Achatzy. This is the rescheduled date for the canceled 12.04.2009 show. The band's sixth show in Hamburg. Attendance is sparse but those who attend throw a good party. A few people dance, many holler and demand more after the set. Highlights include "Upside down", "I want to" and "Camera".
