12.09.2009
- Bassy Cowboy Club, Berlin, Germany
Attendance:
200-250
Time:
60 min
Set:
Drums -> Mr.
Time, Cracker, Dope idiots, I want to, Gun or run, All because of you,
Save me save you, Jam -> Mind garage, Invisible people,
Psychosis,
Old tattoo, Surrender, Mind machine, Upside down, Divine advice
Encore:
My flash on you, Last song about you, Mimi's tune
Notes:
This show is
the Hood's third time at Bassy in 2009 and the seventh time at
this club altogether. Although not the official drummer anymore Lars
sits in for Florian who can't play on this date. In 2007 Lars played
his
debut with the band at Bassy
and this show - again at Bassy - will most likely be one of his last
hometown shows with the band for quite a while (at this point Lars is
already hired to play the October shows in 4 weeks because Florian has
other engagements on those dates). The first hour of the club's opening
times is free admission so already at 11 pm there is a strong crowd
inside Bassy. It's nicely packed with fans, friends and even very
old companions. Brotherhood plays a reliably good concert. The
setlist sequence is radically and refreshingly changed which makes for
a few nice surprises. "
Mr.
Time" works great as opener and the early delivery of "
Dope idiots" gets
the crowd going. When the band ejects "
Gun or run" like a
bullet it smashes into the crowd like a hit! "
Mind garage"
features a neat little new intro and the following psychedelic portion
of the show up to "
Psychosis"
is the highlight of the evening. As always at Bassy the band meets a
very engaged and enthusiastic crowd - nothing to match
the
last performance at this venue though! After repeatedly
calling them "
super"
Kiryk thanks the audience towards the end and then he also thanks the
club, which he calls "
the
best club of the country"! "
Too much" was on
the setlist as last song of the second encore but was not played.

Thanks to the local support band and a local DJ-team from the scene
they find a distinctive mod crowd at Steinbruch who really digs the
band and the party.

Notes:
Lars
replaces Flo. Brotherhood returns to the nice and unpretenious punk
joint Cortina Bob in Kreuzberg where they played first in February
2009. On the same bill are The Preachers, a Fuzztones-style
Garage Punk
band from Italy. Brotherhood plays first. The band performs a solid
standard set. The crowd obviously likes the show but doesn't go wild --
quite typical at this club it seems.

14.11.2009 - NBI, Berlin,
Germany

Supported
by: Pedro Mountains Mummy
Attendance:
ca. 140
Soundcheck:
Dope idiots, All because of you, Mr. Time, Gun or run -> Jam,
Mind garage (some partial)
Time:
ca. 60 min
Set:
Mr. Time, All because of you, I want to, Gun or run, Cracker, Divine
advice, Invisible people, Jam -> No mercy on ravers, Camera,
Psychosis, Too much, Dope idiots, My flash on you, Old tattoo, Upside
down, Mind garage
Encore:
Mind machine, Mimi's tune
Notes:
The first show in Berlin with new drummer Flo (second ever after
the first in Hamburg
29.08.2009). A good and really mixed crowd packs
the space between the stage and the bar. The people dance and shake, a
good atmosphere. The pig brothers deliver an okay performance despite
being a bit subdued compared to other shows. Flo's drumming is
competent and appropriate but doesn't leave an instantly identifiable
mark on the band's sound. Apart from the last part of "Dope idiots"
there are no major fuck ups on behalf of Flo. There is definitely still
a lot of space for Flo to rise to Lars' skills and energy that
charakterized his best moments with Brotherhood. The most unusal moment
of the show is a two minute intro jam to "No mercy". Other
highlights
include "Gun or run",
"Camera"
and "Too much",
the latter typically a
real hardcore dancer. Kiryk introduces Flo during the drum solo in "Too
much" and again after the song saying they have just
rehearsed together
three times so far. The "pig flu" artwork has to be regarded as Kiryk's
best Brotherhood design for a while, maybe even since SO36
13.03.2008.
This is the first time since Mokum
13.07.2007 that a giant "Dance
concert"-poster is being put up in the classic poster spot Eberswalder
Straße. [This being the Brotherhood's 167th show the band has now officially played as many gigs as their predecessor Liquid Visions, who had managed to play exactly 167 concerts between 1995 and 2004.]

Notes:
Brotherhood's
fifth time at Absturz and the seventh time altogether in Leipzig.
Surprisingly not many people turn out to see the show and the party is
really lame. The flyer picks up a flyer-motif of the first
show at Absturz back in 2007.

Notes:
Party! Party!
Party! This night is the total opposite of the night before. The pretty
small venue is Dresden's latest hip retro indie club decorated with a
lot of GDR-kitsch (thus the name). A really packed joint and a super
60s party make for a great Brotherhood debut in Dresden (in fact the
band has not yet played this fine city, a
show in 2007 was booked but was canceled on short notice).

- Psychedelic Network Festival, Café Cairo,
Würzburg, Germany
With:
Siena Root, My Sleeping Karma
Set:
Porno -> Old

advice, Camera, Psychosis, No mercy on ravers, All because of you, Dope
idiots, Upside down, Too much, Mr. Time, Invisible people, Mind garage
Encore:
I want to, Mimi's tune
Notes:
A pretty cool gig. The Hood arrives too late that's why headliners
Siena Root have to play before Brotherhood (in their
second
gig with Jan back in 2005
Brotherhood supported Siena Root). During the band's show anybody who
is still up on his or her feet dances. There are quite a few older
tie-dye grand-daddies in the audience who don't dance but who seem to
dig it anyway.

Notes:
A super cool
show!!! There are almost exclusively young people in the audience. The
crowd totally freaks out and does not stop to demand a second encore
until the band has actually left the hall. Afterwards Kiryk has to give
away plecs, a torn guitar string, flyers, posters, and has to sign LPs
and CDs for almost two hours. Huge fun, Nürnberg rocks!

Psychosis, Camera, Sve me save you, Mr. Time, Dope idiots, Upside down,

Notes:
With Lars on
drums. This annual solidarity party for the ex-squat house project
"Bödi 9" in Bödeckerstraße, Friedrichshain
was
originally scheduled to take place at Bödi 9 itself but the
landlord threatened to have the cops evacuate the house in case of a
party. That's why the party which includes three bands and several DJs
was moved to Rauchhaus in Kreuzberg just three days ahead of the event.
The Rauchhaus on the other hand is a German squat-legend: Part of the
former hospital "Bethanien" in Berlin-Kreuzberg the Rauchhaus was
Germany's second ever squatted house! It was squatted in December 1971
after a concert by the legendary German band Ton Steine Scherben and
has been self-administrated ever since. The house is immortalized in
the "Rauchhaus Song" by Ton Steine Scherben [read more about the
history of the house and the song here].
A close friend of the band lives at Bödi 9. After a first
appearance at the annual party in December
2008
the band has been invited to play the party again this year. As always
at these kinds of events the attendance is very good. Many young and
alternative people gather to drink, smoke, dance and party. The
atmosphere is not quite as wild and freaked out as last year though. In
the basement of the Rauchhaus a small stage is being set up and about
80 people attend the band's show. The room is not packed allowing the
people to dance and freak freely. Showtime 1:30 am. Brotherhood plays a
hot show that clearly thrives on the crowd's enthusiasm: The people
really dig the band! They dance and scream and clap their hands and let
it all out! If only all crowds would turn the shows into a genuine
dance concert like this! It's impossible to single out highlights from
the set. The only deviation from the regular versions is "No mercy" which is
being extended with very small jams in the beginnig and end. It remains
uncertain if "Last song"
was actually played as the author can't quite remember having heard
it...

19.12.2009 - Privatclub, Berlin, Germany
With: The Smokin' 44s
Attendance: ca. 70
Time: ca. 60 min
Set: Upside down,
Old tattoo, Gun or run, Cracker, Dope idiots, Mr. Time, Divine advice,
Mindmachine, (Guitar intro)/Psychosis, All because of you, I want to,
Camera, Too much, Mimi's tune, My flash on you, Mind garage
Encore: Jam -> No mercy on ravers, Invisible people
Notes: Frank Popp ("
Hip teens don't wear Blue Jeans")
celebrates his birthday bash and Brotherhood is invited to play this
cosy and lovely location in Kreuzberg, a 150 people capacity basement
club situated underneath the famous 80s scene restaurant
"Weltrestaurant Markthalle". The Smokin 44s receive a lukewarm feedback
from the birthday crowd but afterwards Brotherhood manages to whip up
the party with an engaged performance. Kiryk is animated and gives us
some cool stage antics. The crowd enjoys and dances. In his second
Berlin performance with the band Florian leaves a solid impression
again but the band seriously messes up a couple of times. A pretty good
show, though without real stand-outs. Most enjoyable moments: "
Cracker", "
Dope idiots", "
Camera", "
Mind garage" and "
No mercy".
